Bird flu hits 162 poultry farms; Rs507 million paid in compensation

Bird flu has affected 162 poultry farms in Nepal, prompting authorities to cull more than 835,000 birds to contain the outbreak.

The government has paid Rs507 million in compensation to 104 affected farmers so far. However, officials indicate that settling fresh compensation claims related to the outbreak could require an additional Rs100 million.
