Second body found along the Connecticut River days after man’s drowning

GREENFIELD — An investigation is underway following the discovery of a body along the shore of the Connecticut River, the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday. It’s the second similar incident in a matter of days. A man’s body was discovered on the shore of the Connecticut River in Franklin County Tuesday afternoon, just days after a drowned man was found in a nearby section of the river.

The second man’s body was recovered after first responders were dispatched to Smead Island, which is located in the Connecticut River between Greenfield and Turners Falls, according to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office. The man was declared dead at the scene.
