British army told to halt non-essential training exercises to save money

The British army has been ordered to suspend non-essential collective training exercises for UK-based units for the majority of the year. The directive was issued in an effort to reduce costs amidst ongoing budget pressures within the military.

Troops currently preparing for deployment, those already deployed, personnel on standby, and units in quick-reaction roles are exempt from the suspension and will continue their standard operational preparations.
