A 62-year-old British cruise passenger has been found dead in her cabin after the ship docked at the Greek island of Santorini. Crew members discovered the woman’s body on Sunday. Local authorities immediately launched an investigation.

Her body was transferred by boat to the port of Athinios in the early hours and then taken to the General Hospital of Thira, where she was formally pronounced dead. The Thira Port Authority is conducting a preliminary investigation. The body will be moved to the Piraeus Forensic Service for a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.

Police have indicated there are no suspicious circumstances. Early inquiries suggest the woman may have suffered a sudden medical episode. Authorities have not named the cruise ship but confirmed it sails under the Marshall Islands flag.

The vessel resumed its scheduled Aegean Sea itinerary after the passenger was taken ashore. An exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
