Brussels sends a team to Ceuta to assess the needs on the ground following the migration crisis

The European Commission has deployed a team from the Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs to the Spanish autonomous city of Ceuta. The mission, which began on a Wednesday in August, aims to evaluate the migration situation and assess needs on the ground 'firsthand' following a migration crisis that occurred in late July.

This on-the-site assessment highlights the European Union's ongoing engagement with Spain regarding the recent border pressures. Alongside the deployment to evaluate requirements directly, Brussels continues to maintain its support for Spain in managing the aftermath of the crisis.
