Brussels proposes to release €4.2 billion to Hungary after deeming rule of law problems resolved

The European Commission has formally proposed the release of 4.2 billion euros in cohesion funds to Hungary. This decision follows an assessment by Brussels that the country has sufficiently addressed previous concerns regarding the rule of law that led to the initial freezing of these assets in 2022.
