Cables take over the landscape in the streets of Santo Domingo

On Thursday, authorities in Santo Domingo initiated a joint project aimed at addressing the proliferation of overhead utility wires that dominate the city's streetscapes. The initiative is being carried out collaboratively by the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel), the National District City Council (ADN), and the Unified Council of Electricity Distribution Companies (CUED).

Officially titled the “Retiro, Reubicación y Reorganización de Cableado de Telecomun[icaciones],” the project focuses on the removal, relocation, and reorganization of telecommunications and electrical cabling. The effort brings together municipal authorities, telecommunications regulators, and energy sector representatives to tackle the visual and structural clutter of cables spanning public roadways in the Dominican capital.
