Cables take over the landscape in the streets of Santo Domingo

On Thursday, authorities in Santo Domingo launched a collaborative initiative aimed at addressing the proliferation of overhead utility lines in the city. The project, titled “Retiro, Reubicación y Reorganización de Cableado de Telecomunicaciones,” is being spearheaded by the Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel), the National District City Council (ADN), and the Unified Council of Electricity Distribution Companies (CUED).

The initiative seeks to systematically remove, relocate, and reorganize telecommunications cabling that currently dominates the urban landscape. By coordinating efforts between municipal, telecommunications, and electrical entities, the project intends to mitigate the visual and structural impact of tangled wiring on the city's streets.
