Call to declare ‘OBT’ gang domestic terrorists as six charged in Lae

Police in Morobe, Papua New Guinea, conducted a dawn raid at Nadzab, outside Lae, on Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of 11 suspects associated with the Operation Brukim Tulait (OBT) criminal gang. Authorities have formally charged six of the individuals detained during the operation.

The arrests have prompted calls for the OBT gang to be officially designated as domestic terrorists. The police action is described as a significant strike against the group, which is characterized as a notorious criminal organization operating in the region.
