Midsummer heat in September: Aemet warns that thermometers will reach 40 degrees and activates alerts in these areas

Spain is experiencing an anomalous period of mid-summer heat at the beginning of September, despite the official arrival of meteorological autumn. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has issued heat warnings across eleven autonomous communities as temperatures are expected to reach up to 40 degrees Celsius, with some areas potentially seeing maximums of up to 42 degrees.

Currently, three of the eleven affected regions—Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, and Extremadura—are under an orange alert, designating a significant risk due to the exceptionally high temperatures.
