A church and a police officer brother under scrutiny: how the search unfolded for the man who was a fugitive for 14 years for abusing his stepdaughter

Authorities have captured a man who remained a fugitive for 14 years after being sought for the abuse of his stepdaughter. The investigation spanned a distance of approximately 580 kilometers by road between Puan, in the southwest of the province of Buenos Aires, where the case originated in 2009, and the locality of Florencio Varela. The search focused heavily on a church lead and involved scrutiny of a police officer brother.

In a separate incident in Guatemala, a second suspect has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of a 17-year-old adolescent. Elver Juan Pablo Antuche Hernández, aged 24, was taken into custody by agents of the National Civil Police following an operation conducted by investigative units.
