A fugitive ex-police officer serving a life sentence for raping his daughter has been captured in Peru.

Peruvian National Police captured a retired former police officer on Sunday who had been a fugitive for two years. The individual was serving a life sentence for the rape of his daughter, an act that resulted in her pregnancy and subsequent death at eight months of age.

The suspect had been at large since escaping custody while serving his life term. His apprehension marks the end of a two-year search for the convicted offender.
