Almost half of the vehicles imported to the Dominican Republic were SUVs

During the first seven months of the year, vehicle imports in the Dominican Republic experienced positive growth with a total of 84,544 transportation units entering the market. The majority of these imported vehicles consisted of second-hand units.

Nearly half of all the vehicles imported into the country during this period were SUVs, locally referred to as yipetas. This high volume of imports has translated directly into active sales within the domestic automotive sector.
