Cases of leptospirosis are down, but the cumulative total is up

According to the Ministry of Public Health's epidemiological report for the 30th week of 2026 in the Dominican Republic, recent cases of leptospirosis have demonstrated a downward trend, with only two confirmed cases reported during that specific week. However, the cumulative total of cases continues to increase.

Concurrently, the Ministry reported three new maternal deaths during the same epidemiological week. These fatalities involved women aged between 26 and 30 years, two of whom were Dominican nationals. This brings the national cumulative total of maternal deaths to 76 for the year.
