A man who appeared to be heavily intoxicated Tuesday night at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport was arrested after he approached a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer and told him, “I got bombs,” authorities said.According to an arrest report from the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at about 8:20 p.m. inside Terminal 4 near gate G5.Deputies said the suspect, Michael Ryan Knight, 31, of Westminster, Maryland, then told the officer he was “just joking,” but the officer stopped Knight as he tried to walk away to board his flight.According to the arrest report, Knight was then detained by a responding deputy and claimed that he had consumed four alcoholic beverages inside the terminal while waiting for his flight even though he never drinks. The federal officer confirmed to deputies that he saw Knight prior to the incident, appearing to be “extremely intoxicated” as he was dancing throughout the terminal, “not exhibiting normal behavior,” the report stated.Knight was arrested on charges of making a false bomb threat and disorderly intoxication. As of Wednesday morning, he was being held at the Broward County Main Jail and was expected to appear in bond court later in the morning or afternoon.
