Neiba Correction and Rehabilitation Center begins construction

The Dominican government officially began construction on the new Centro de Corrección y Rehabilitación (CCR) in Neiba this past Friday. The project is designed to replace the municipality’s existing public jail facility.

The current facility, which was originally built to house approximately 70 inmates, is significantly overcrowded, currently holding more than 270 individuals. The construction of the new center aims to address these capacity issues and improve the conditions of the local penal system.
