Ceuta complains that the Government will use school sports halls for migrants just as the school year is about to begin.

The government of Ceuta has announced plans to pursue legal action to prevent the use of school sports facilities as temporary shelters for migrants who arrived during the mass entry event in late July. Local authorities argue that these locations are unsuitable because they are situated within populated areas and their use would disrupt the upcoming start of the school year. The regional government had previously proposed alternative sites that they claim would not interfere with daily life in the enclave.

Simultaneously, the broader management of the migration crisis has drawn criticism from regional leadership. The president of Melilla, Juan José Imbroda, has publicly rebuked the Spanish government for its delayed response in establishing a unified command structure, arguing that the decision to convene the National Security Council and appoint the Minister of Territorial Policy to lead the response came too late.
