Chiapas registers a 4.0 magnitude earthquake in Mapastepec

Two distinct seismic events were reported by the Servicio Sismológico Nacional (SSN) on September 20. A 4.0 magnitude earthquake occurred at 02:01 hours, 191 km southwest of Mapastepec, Chiapas. Separately, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake took place in Veracruz, with an epicenter located 65 km south of Las Choapas at 12:39 hours. The latter event occurred at a depth of 199.8 km.

These seismic activities represent independent geological events in different Mexican states. Both reports rely on preliminary data provided by national authorities to document the time, location, and magnitude of the tremors.
