China halts rescue efforts in Tibet due to risk of further flooding

China suspended rescue operations on Friday in the Tibet region due to a high risk of further flash floods. Hundreds of people remain missing following a deadly landslide that struck near the border with Nepal.

State broadcaster CCTV reported that the suspension was enacted after the formation of a lake, which heightened the danger of additional torrents and threatened ongoing search and recovery efforts in the disaster-affected area.
