Chinese dad sparks controversy after digging grave to help sick daughter cope with death

Zhang Xinlei, a father in Neijiang, southwestern China, sparked controversy after digging a grave for his two-year-old daughter, who was born with severe thalassaemia, a debilitating blood disorder. The father reportedly undertook the act to help the sick child cope with the reality of death.

Following the controversial action, the child made a remarkable recovery from her illness. In response to her improved health, Zhang subsequently transformed the previously dug grave into a flower garden.
