Climate Change Driving Longer Wildfire Seasons, Iceland Meteorologist Warns

An expert from the Icelandic Meteorological Office has warned that severe wildfires sweeping across southern Europe are a direct consequence of climate change.

According to the meteorological official, rising global temperatures are also increasing the risk of vegetation fires within Iceland itself, extending the traditional wildfire season.

The warning comes as hundreds of thousands of people are affected by the destructive blazes currently impacting parts of southern Europe, highlighting the broader regional impacts of shifting climatic patterns.
