Clubs spend US$9.89bil in record-breaking transfer window

FIFA announced on Thursday that global clubs spent a record-breaking US$9.89 billion (€8.51 billion) on international transfer fees in men's football during the summer window. This figure represents the highest amount ever recorded for a mid-year transfer period.

English clubs once again dominated the spending, investing over US$3.02 billion to acquire players from foreign clubs. In total, more than 12,500 transfers were completed worldwide during the record-setting window.
