Dominican school demonstrates classrooms are better without cell phones

In September 2019, The Community for Learning (TCFL) in the Dominican Republic implemented a new policy requiring students to secure their mobile phones in numbered, magnetic-locking fabric pouches upon arrival. Students were required to keep the locked devices with them throughout the school day.

The initiative was introduced as part of an effort to evaluate the impact of mobile phone restrictions on the classroom environment. By removing digital distractions, the school aimed to demonstrate that academic settings function more effectively without the presence of personal cellular devices.
