Dominican school demonstrates classrooms are better without cell phones

In September 2019, students at The Community for Learning (TCFL), a school in the Dominican Republic, encountered a new system at the school entrance involving numbered cloth pouches and magnetic locks. Under this initiative, students were required to place their mobile phones inside the pouches and secure them for the remainder of the school day, while keeping the pouches in their possession.

This measure formed the basis of an institutional demonstration by the Dominican school showing that classrooms function better without mobile phones. The implemented procedure ensured that students remained without phone access during instructional hours while retaining physical custody of their locked devices.
