Colombia quake death toll hits 265, as rescuers race against the clock

The death toll from a powerful earthquake in Colombia has reached 265 as rescue workers race against the clock to search for survivors in the rubble. The tremor caused widespread devastation, razing buildings, buckling roads, and crushing cars.

In response to the disaster, tonnes of international aid from regional partners began arriving in the country on Wednesday. The catastrophe has also presented an immediate and severe test for Colombia’s new president, Abelardo.
