Colombian activists Manuela Bedoya and Luna Barreto, who gained national recognition in October 2025 following their participation in the Global Sumud humanitarian flotilla attempting to reach Gaza, have recently been awarded lucrative contracts with the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Cancillería).

The development follows their previous recognition, having been officially decorated by President Gustavo Petro for their involvement in the Gaza relief mission. The awarding of these state contracts to the recently honored activists has drawn public and media scrutiny regarding the alignment between government accolades and subsequent professional engagements within the diplomatic sector.
