Humane Society of Broward seeks ‘furever’ home for Maggie, Cowboy and other furry friends

The Humane Society of Broward County has plenty of kittens and cats looking for their forever homes, including two 10-week-old kittens named Maggie and Cowboy.Caitlin Pechin of the Humane Society joined Local 10’s “Adopt a Pet” segment to introduce the playful pair and discuss the shelter’s available pets. Maggie and Cowboy were among the animals transferred to the shelter as part of an effort to help a shelter in the Florida Panhandle affected by a hurricane. The Humane Society transferred more than 50 pets. The shelter currently has cats and kittens of various ages, sizes and breeds available for adoption.Pechin reminded prospective adopters that while kittens are playful and entertaining, adopting a cat is a long-term commitment.

Cats can live more than 20 years and require proper care, training, enrichment and financial support. Those interested in adopting can visit Humanebroward.com to complete a pre-adoption application and meet available pets. The shelter is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.Pechin also encouraged people considering adopting a kitten to consider adopting two, as having a companion can help keep them entertained and ease their transition into a new home.
