Conflict over reservoirs threatens S/200 million project in Cusco: denial of expansion puts stormwater drainage work at risk

A 200 million sol drainage project in the Cachimayo micro-basin of Cusco, Peru, faces an indefinite suspension. The second phase of the infrastructure work is currently stalled following the refusal of local residents to allow the construction of two storm tanks near their homes.

The denial of the permit extension for these reservoirs has placed the entire project at risk. The impasse between the local community and project authorities threatens the completion of the pluvial drainage system, which is intended to mitigate flooding in the region.
