Congo is running short of health workers as Ebola remains out of control, WHO says

The World Health Organization has issued a warning that the Democratic Republic of Congo is facing a critical shortage of health workers needed to combat the ongoing Ebola outbreak. The situation has intensified as the epidemic remains out of control, driven by a surge of cases in the eastern province of North Kivu in what is described as the fastest-growing Ebola outbreak in history.

According to the latest government figures, the outbreak has spread across seven provinces, resulting in a total of 7,773 confirmed cases and 3,759 deaths. The combination of the expanding geographic spread, high mortality figures, and severe workforce deficits highlights ongoing challenges in containing the public health crisis.
