Dr Steele successfully defended his dissertation, titled: “Exploring the Drivers of Authentic Leadership Adoption: The cultural moderation of personality traits in Caribbean organizations” His research advances a distinctly Caribbean perspective on how leaders balance authenticity, authority and organisational expectations. This work is an important contribution to advancing Caribbean leadership thought. Dr Steele’s findings point to some key insights: - Authentic leadership is influenced not simply by personality, but by a leader’s belief in his or her ability to lead effectively, and by the environment in which leadership is exercised; and - A central insight: Authentic leadership in the Caribbean is psychologically enabled, structurally bounded and behaviourally negotiated.
