Congressional Democrats launch probe into efforts to deport U.S. military members and their families

A group of more than 60 congressional Democrats, led by Senators Elizabeth Warren and Richard Blumenthal, launched a formal investigation on Sunday into Trump administration efforts to deport U.S. military members and their families. The lawmakers sent a letter to administration officials alleging that military installations are being converted into effective "traps" for noncitizens who serve in the military or belong to military families, breaking the country's promises to service members by tearing apart families that were previously granted immigration protections.

In response to the inquiry, the Pentagon declined to comment on the substance of the allegations, stating only that it would reply directly to the authors of the congressional letter.
