The Council of State decreed the “political death” of Iván Name for influence peddling in the corruption case at the UNGRD.

On Friday, September 25, 2026, the Council of State of Colombia decreed the political death, or loss of investiture, of former senator Iván Leonidas Name Vásquez. The ruling was issued due to established grounds of influence trafficking linked to the corruption scandal involving the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (Ungrd).

The judicial decision removes Name Vásquez from his historical parliamentary status as part of ongoing accountability measures regarding the high-profile graft investigation surrounding the disaster risk agency.
