Consumers to pay higher electricity bills

Electricity consumers in Pakistan will face an additional financial burden in their August bills following a decision by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra). The regulator has approved a fuel cost adjustment (FCA) of 75 paisa per unit for electricity consumed during the month of June. This adjustment will result in a total additional collection of Rs9.8 billion from consumers.

The approved increase follows a review process by the regulatory body, which opted to implement the surcharge despite having significantly reduced the initial demand for a higher adjustment. The move reflects ongoing adjustments in energy pricing mechanisms tied to fuel costs.
