Cops cripple meth syndicate allegedly led by suspended officer

(Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: A suspended police officer is believed to have headed a drug trafficking syndicate supplying methamphetamine to local and international markets.Bukit Aman narcotics criminal investigation department director Hussein Omar Khan said the officer, who has been suspended since 2024, was among five men arrested in a series of raids in Cheras and Selangor.Hussein said police also seized 410 plastic packets containing 425.3kg of methamphetamine, estimated to be worth RM21.3 million, reported Harian Metro.“Checks found that the suspended police officer had a previous record related to a drug offence,” he told reporters at the Cheras police headquarters.He said the syndicate was believed to have been active since early this year and comprised members from Kelantan.It stored the drugs in terrace houses around the Klang Valley before distributing them to local and overseas markets.All the suspects have been remanded until Friday to assist in the investigation into drug trafficking under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
