Costa Rica's Foreign Minister, Manuel Tovar, has officially described the Cuban government as a "vil tiranía" that has denied freedom to its people for six decades. The statements were made in San José.

Alongside the harsh characterization, Tovar reaffirmed Costa Rica's existing diplomatic break with Havana, emphasizing that the Costa Rican government remains steadfastly opposed to the situation in Cuba.
