Cost of inclusive education for students with specific needs

Between 2014 and 2025, special education in the Dominican Republic has received an average of less than 0.35 percent of the total budget of the Ministry of Education. This funding level falls significantly short when compared to the actual costs required for inclusive education.

Data indicates that educating students with specific disabilities can cost up to 35 times more than the expense of educating a regular student. The disparity highlights a major financial gap in resource allocation for students with specific educational needs within the country's public education system.
