CP NewsAlert: Alberta to pause provincial gasoline tax as of Oct. 1

The Alberta government is suspending its provincial fuel tax of 13 cents per litre on gasoline and diesel, effective October 1. The pause follows months of public calls for relief from high fuel prices.

According to Premier Danielle Smith, the tax is being removed to help consumers combat high costs at the fuel pumps. While initial reports indicated the suspension would last for three months, subsequent updates noted the measure is scheduled to remain in place until 2027.
