Creador de Coquito cumple 100 años y deja mensaje a los peruanos que crecieron con su libro: “No todo lo antiguo es malo”

Everardo Zapata Santillana, the author of the widely used educational book Coquito, celebrated his 100th birthday on Saturday, August 15. The milestone coincides with the anniversary of his birthplace, Arequipa, Peru.

In reflection of his century of life and his contribution to Peruvian education, Zapata Santillana offered a message to the generations who learned to read using his publication, stating that not everything old is inherently bad. The educator reaches this milestone having received recognition from multiple generations of students.
