CSIF demands clarification on whether Melilla is prepared for a mass influx like the one in Ceuta.

On September 16, the CSIF trade union publicly demanded that the Spanish government clarify whether Melilla's public services are adequately prepared to handle a potential mass migration entry similar to the one experienced in Ceuta on July 30. The union's demand stems from mounting concern among local public employees regarding the city's preparedness for sudden influxes of migrants.

Simultaneously, the local government of Melilla criticized a visit by Elma Saiz, the Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, during the celebration of Melilla Day. The regional administration argued that the minister's visit did not demonstrate a genuine commitment by the central government to the city, asserting that local residents require concrete actions rather than symbolic gestures.
