Cuba denounces ‘record’ economic damage from US embargo

HAVANA, Cuba (AFP)—The United States embargo on Cuba incurred "record" losses of over $8 billion on the communist island between March last year and February this year, according to a report presented by the government Monday. The figure exceeds last year's peak by seven per cent and "does not include the damage from the energy blockade" imposed by Washington in January "nor the damage from secondary sanctions" imposed on Cuban entities in May, according to Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez.
