Cuba has begun the gradual process of restoring its electrical service following the eighth total collapse of the National Electroenergy System (SEN) of the year on Friday. Authorities initiated the restoration by starting up several generating units in Havana.

The incident marks the eighth nationwide blackout experienced by the country in 2026, highlighting ongoing and severe vulnerabilities in Cuba's domestic power infrastructure.
