NewzA 37-year-old Miami-Dade County man is facing charges after allegedly physically assaulting his girlfriend’s teenage daughter. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon along the 18000 block of South Dixie Highway in Palmetto Bay. According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the victim, who is a 15-year-old girl, and her mother were involved in an argument over the teen having run away the previous weekend.Deputies said the victim advised the argument intensified once her mother’s live-in boyfriend, identified as Ulisses Gutierrez, got involved.
According to an arrest report, Gutierrez “grabbed the victim by her neck with both hands and squeezed hard, impeding her breathing for a few seconds” before he “pushed her into the laundry room closet door and pushed her to the ground twice.”Deputies said the victim was left with red marks on her neck and an abrasion on her face.Investigators at the scene spoke to Gutierrez. They said he denied all the allegations made by the victim, but he could not provide an explanation as to where her injuries came from. Gutierrez was charged with one felony count of child abuse with no great bodily harm.

Police said officers found a blue Ford F-150 that had crashed into a guardrail, knocking over a power line, and Jordan Nelson behind the wheel.A responding officer noted in Nelson’s arrest report that the officer “was immediately met with the strong smell associated with an alcoholic beverage which emanated from his facial area, especially as he spoke,” while adding that Nelson’s “eyes were red and glossy, and he was slurring his speech.”Officers said Nelson, 36, agreed to perform field sobriety tests, which he did not pass, and his blood alcohol level was measured at 0.173% and 0.163%, both of which are more than twice the legal limit of 0.08%.
Nelson has since been charged with DUI, DUI with injury or property damage and DUI with blood alcohol level above 0.15%.
