The Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada (ACSN) initiated a 48-hour armed strike in the Magdalena department of Colombia, resulting in the forced closure of businesses in Santa Marta through threats and gunfire. The group’s actions follow a recent police operation that resulted in the deaths of seven members of the organization.

In response to the escalating violence and the disruption of public order, President Abelardo de la Espriella has ordered the militarization of Santa Marta.
