Decade-old alternative to a vital Prithvi Highway link remains on paper

A decade-old proposal to construct an alternative route to the Krishnabhir section of Nepal's Prithvi Highway has yet to materialize, leaving the vital transport link without a parallel option across the Trishuli River. The project, which has been in the planning stages for nearly ten years, remains on paper despite the persistent vulnerability of the existing highway to collapses and disruptions.

The lack of a secondary route highlights significant infrastructure gaps along this critical corridor. As the current highway remains prone to structural failure, the absence of a functional alternative continues to pose challenges for connectivity and transit reliability in the region.
