State entities invited their employees to donate a day's salary to help those affected by the earthquake: "A day of relief"

Following the August 10, 2026 earthquake centered in San José del Palmar, Chocó—which also impacted municipalities in Risaralda, Caldas, Armenia, and Valle del Cauca—state entities in Colombia have launched a relief initiative titled "Un día de alivio." The campaign invites government officials to voluntarily donate a day's salary to aid those affected by the natural disaster.

In tandem with the emergency fundraising, the Colombian Ministry of Hacienda y Crédito Público has introduced a draft decree to assist individuals in the disaster-stricken areas. The proposed measures adjust the deadlines for individual income tax declarations processed through the Dian and provide specific relief regarding tax withholdings to alleviate financial pressure on residents.
