Drug seizures increased 34% in the first half of 2026

During the first half of 2026, the Dominican Republic's National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) reported a significant rise in narcotics seizures. Authorities confiscated 24,139.53 kilograms of drugs between January and June, marking a 33.76% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

This surge in interdictions reflects an additional 6,091.92 kilograms of illicit substances seized over the previous year's total of 18,047.61 kilograms. The data highlights a notable shift in the volume of narcotics intercepted by national security forces during the first six months of the year.
