Drug seizures increased 34% in the first half of 2026

The Dominican Republic's National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) reported a 33.76% increase in drug seizures during the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. Authorities confiscated 24,139.53 kilograms of narcotics between January and June 2026, marking a significant rise from the 18,047.61 kilograms seized during the first six months of the previous year.

This growth in enforcement activity represents an additional 6,091 kilograms of illicit substances removed from circulation. The data reflects the agency's operational output for the initial two quarters of the year.
