Drug seizures increased 34% in the first half of 2026

The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) in the Dominican Republic reported a 33.76% increase in drug seizures during the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. Authorities successfully confiscated 24,139.53 kilograms of narcotics between January and June 2026, marking a significant rise from the 18,047.61 kilograms seized during the first six months of the previous year.

This increase represents an additional 6,091.92 kilograms of illicit substances intercepted by the agency. The data highlights a notable shift in the volume of drug enforcement operations conducted by the DNCD over the observed twelve-month period.
