Decrees: Abinader shakes up the government in the middle of his last term

President Luis Abinader initiated a significant reorganization of his government on Sunday, August 16, marking the midpoint of his second and final constitutional term. The reshuffle involves a series of official decrees that include the appointment of new officials, the reassignment of existing personnel, and the acceptance of voluntary resignations from key figures who have served since the beginning of his administration.

Among the primary changes, Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez resigned from his position at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex). President Abinader appointed Víctor -Ito- Bisonó to succeed him, a move formalized under decree 554-26. These administrative adjustments represent a broad effort to restructure the executive branch as the administration enters the latter half of its mandate.
