On August 8, Delcy Rodríguez, serving as the acting president of Venezuela, appointed Juan Crisóstomo Fernández as the new president of the state-owned electric utility, Corporación Eléctrica (Corpoelec). The appointment follows a call made by Rodríguez one week prior, in which she urged the Venezuelan citizenry to practice energy conservation.
